Dr. Jane Baxley has put together an all-star team of our favorite wellness providers. We've worked hand-in-hand with some team members while others come highly recommended. Having evolved over thousands of years, acupuncture is one of the oldest continually practiced medical modalities in the world. This treatment involves the insertion and manipulation of flexible, hair-thin needles at specific points along the body's meridian pathways, which are channels through which the body’s energy is thought to flow. Acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical-free way to promote the body's remarkable self-healing abilities. It is used to prevent and treat disease, relieve pain, balance mood, enhance athletic performance, increase fertility, and improve overall health and wellness.  

Floatation Therapy, Enlighten Float:

Enlighten Float in San Ramon: Floatation Therapy or R.E.S.T. (Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy) offers the individual an opportunity to disconnect and recover from the stress and noise of modern life. Developed by Dr. John C. Lily, an American physician and neuroscientist in the 1950's, the sensory deprivation tank has evolved into a state of the art floatation tank. 1000 lbs of epsom salts are dissolved in a tank of water 10-12" deep, heated to @92 degrees. It is fast becoming one of the greatest tools available to reduce stress, accelerate healing and recovery, expand and explore consciousness. According to Dr. Peter Suedfeld, a pioneering R.E.S.T. researcher, floatation tanks have been very promising in addressing "problems involving the autonomic nervous system, such as insomnia, stress symptoms, dysfunctions of the skeleto-muscular system, chronic headaches, and the like."

Massage Therapist, Cyndi Schrank:

Cyndi Schrank, Body Balance by Cyndi: Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body. Although a single massage will be enjoyable, the effects of massage are cumulative and a course of massage treatments will bring the most benefits. Massage can help reduce fatigue, leaving the person with a feeling of replenished energy. At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually. Rates can range from $50 to $125 per hour depending on who and where you are receiving your massage. You can expect to pay more for someone who is willing to travel to your home of for a spa massage.

Foundation Training, Perpetual Motion Personal Training:

Perpetual Motion Performance Training specializes in personal training, small group training, group classes, senior fitness, and local fitness adventures. We focus on functional fitness; making you stronger and better able to manage your every-day activities. Foundation Training, high intensity interval training (HIIT), strength and conditioning, core work, yoga, and bodyweight are all emphasized. Bottom line is we teach you how to move better, so you can feel better, so you can live well. We are more than just a gym, we are a community! We know and love our gym members and strive to help them reach their goals in a fun and encouraging way. There are no bootcamp drill sergeants here. Classes are scaled to your level and we do our best to help you find the appropriate pace and class. That being said, you won't find a more complete or better workout anywhere in Walnut Creek.
